Artist's Description

The DESERT VIEW WATCHTOWER, which opened in May, 1933, was designed by famous Southwest designer, Mary Colter.

It is located at the eastern end of the South Rim of Grand Canyon. More than five stories high, the Watchtower sits out on a promontory overlooking the Grand Canyon. The main entrance into the structure leads into the largest room, known as the Kiva room. The ceiling is made up of logs salvaged from the old Grand View Hotel. The floor is made from flagstone and the room contains a massive fireplace.

About Paul Mashburn

Paul Mashburn

I have always been intrigued with photography. I did sports, fashion, news, and wedding photography for a time, but even after I started a career where photography was no longer a part of the work, I kept firing away for personal reasons and to document my life. The photos came in handy for my personal blog http://mushysmoochings.blogspot.com. I still write there quite a bit, but documenting the theater restoration project keeps me pretty busy. I hope you enjoy my photos, because the process gives me great personal pleasure. Even if you don't buy, please leave a comment to keep driving me on!
