Artist's Description

In Cades Cove there were few sources of power which the frontiersman knew how to harness. One of those power sources cable mill was the water wheel such as drove the early grist mills. Cable Mill is one of those. The Smoky Mountains Natural History Association keeps Cable Mill running in Cades Cove to teach the Smoky Mountain visitor a little about life in the 1800's. The mill is operated April-October.

About Paul Mashburn

Paul Mashburn

I have always been intrigued with photography. I did sports, fashion, news, and wedding photography for a time, but even after I started a career where photography was no longer a part of the work, I kept firing away for personal reasons and to document my life. The photos came in handy for my personal blog http://mushysmoochings.blogspot.com. I still write there quite a bit, but documenting the theater restoration project keeps me pretty busy. I hope you enjoy my photos, because the process gives me great personal pleasure. Even if you don't buy, please leave a comment to keep driving me on!
