Description
I was raised being told the legend of the dogwood tree, that the dogwood was used to make the cross on which Jesus was crucified. The story goes that the dogwood was so distraught that it swore never again to grow big enough to be used as a cross again, and to put out flowers that witness the sacrifice Jesus made. The flowers resemble a cross, with stained corners signifying blood stains.
True...only a legend, but I like to believe it's true, so this is the Easter flower to me.
